About Gareth: portrait, event and live music photographer in Madrid
I'm Gareth, a Welsh photographer who has lived in Spain for over 15 years and is based in Madrid. I photograph people: portraits and headshots for actors, musicians and professionals, live music in Madrid's venues, and the events, parties and celebrations where people come together. I work in English and Spanish, so whether you've just arrived in the city or were born here, your shoot will feel easy.
How I work
Most people tell me they hate having their photo taken. My job is to make that feeling disappear. Shoots are relaxed and unhurried: we chat, walk, find good light (Retiro, Templo de Debod and the streets of the old town are favourites) and I guide you on posing so you never feel stuck. I edit every image myself, so you get photos that look like you on a good day, not a filter.

How GTS Life, now Gareth Sewell Photography started
I've always got more satisfaction from connecting people than from anything I could buy. After helping to grow an online community for an apartment building in Preston, Lancashire, I moved to Madrid and kept doing the same thing: bringing together people new to the city, restaurants looking for customers who'd love their food, and bands looking for a drummer or a support act. Add a stint in recruitment and GTS Life was born.
Organising those events, I kept reaching for the camera to document them, and a love of live music did the rest. After a lot of practice, courses, books and shoots alongside other photographers and business owners, I started offering photography through GTS Life in 2017. It's been the heart of it ever since.
The blog still has my Madrid food, wine and neighbourhood writing if you want a local's view of the city.
